Dr. Cara Zuccarelli Eggers received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2003 from Loma Linda University, and has been a licensed psychologist since 2005. She specializes in PTSD and anxiety disorders, and provides evidence-based treatments, both individually and in groups. She is certified by the National Center for PTSD to provide Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD and uses cognitive behavioral therapies to treat insomnia, anxiety and depression (including post-partum depression), chronic pain, and health-related disorders. After completing a NASA-funded doctoral dissertation studying an anxiety-related neuropathway, Dr. Eggers worked as a psychologist for the Dept. of Veterans Affairs for nine years, assembling a PTSD clinical team at the Fresno VA and as a PTSD specialist at the Reno VA. She was part of a PTSD clinical research project comparing PTSD treatments in Veterans and conducted mental health disability exams at the San Diego VA. In Virginia, Dr. Eggers worked at a Navy-run primary care clinic, providing a variety of treatments to military family members and retirees. Because she is a military spouse, Dr. Eggers is especially enthusiastic about addressing the unique challenges of military family life, including loss, separation, and deployment stress. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, California Psychological Association, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
